The Friday Photo #172 – Peering through the undergrowth

I love city parks.

Green space in the middle of the city, the dense trees and winding trails a welcome contrast from traffic-clogged streets and the honking horns of passing traffic.

Unless, that is, the park happens to be in the middle of a main road.

Mill Ends Park is the smallest park in the world, measuring a whopping 2 feet across and sitting in a median strip between four lanes of passing traffic in downtown Portland. Home to a resident leprechaun colony and the site of St Patrick’s Day celebrations, for me the park epitomises the fun-loving and quirky nature of this city.

Have I mentioned just how much I love Portland lately?
