The Friday Photo #139 – Clear waters at Plitvice Lakes

Every time I see a photo from Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes, I am struck by two related things.  One, the place is seriously beautiful.  Even with the crowds that were there when I visited in the height of summer, it’s absolutely stunning.

Secondly, the water is so clear that it plays tricks with the eyes.  Branches seem to hover above miniature forests of greenery, and it’s not until you see the fish flitting past that your brain readjusts and you realise that there is even water there at all…
