That would be an entirely different kind of blog post.
This washed out, grainy, rather crappy image is not the usual sort of thing I post here every Friday. There is absolutely nothing special about the picture itself – but what it represents to me is very special indeed.
It is the very first photo I took when I started my travels. It was taken on a $10 disposable underwater camera while snorkelling in the clear blue waters of Hanauma Bay almost fourteen years ago.
Yes, I’m that old.
A few years later I took the print and scanned it in. I have no idea where the original is now, so this shot and a few others like it are now the only photos I have of those four days in Hawaii en-route to Canada.
Looking at the quality of them now, that might not be such a bad thing.
I think I’ll just stick with the memories.
