It had to happen eventually, I guess. After two months in the Pacific Northwest and barely seeing a raindrop, our last couple of days in Seattle were full of the gloom and occasional drizzle that this part of the country is more famous for.
I’d been out to Bainbridge Island a couple of times before, bathed in sunshine both times. Despite the weather, Lauren’s parents being in town gave the perfect excuse to take the half hour boat ride back there one more time.
This shot was from the waterfront trail that loops down from the main road, past the marina and along the coast back to the ferry terminal. Last time I was there, a mother duck and half a dozen ducklings splashed quietly past. This time, the only things floating in the water were expensive boats and seaweed.
