The Friday Photo #174 – Hey, it’s a moose

Moose, Troutdale

Enroute to the waterfalls of the Colombia Gorge last week, we stopped off at a little town called Troutdale. There’s basically one main street, full of antique shops, gift shops and antique gift shops.

It was vaguely charming, in a kitsch kind of way, and we wandered around distractedly for a while drinking over-priced root beer and trying not to laugh at the earnestly mundane quotes printed on blackboards in the general store.

The standout highlight for me, though, was definitely this enormous moose sculpture.

I mean, it kind of had to be, right?

Funny! Troutdale is only a destination if you are heading to the outlet mall!

Thats one big moose head! Did you pick up anything while you were there? Troutdale isn't that in Oregon or someplace? Nice photo!

That is not a moose, it's an elk.

I'll admit that not being a North American wildlife expert, I went with what National Geographic had to say - http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/road-trips/mount-hood-oregon-road-trip/ about the species. :)
