The Friday Photo #169 – Calm before the storm in Portland

Calm before the storm in Portland

I’m back in Portland, Oregon, for the third time in two years. That can only mean one thing: it’s World Domination Summit time again.

The official event runs from tonight until the closing party on Sunday, but with all of the unofficial meetups / drinking sessions before and after, it’s pretty much a week of wonderful, exhausting madness. The group of 500 people that seemed so big in 2011 will be replaced by a heaving mass of over 3000 attendees this year. I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I do know that I’m going to be spending every waking minute for the next few days dealing with large crowds.

As a result, I’m taking every opportunity I can at the moment to get out and enjoy the wonderful weather and a bit of solitude. Standing on the Broadway Bridge yesterday, I gazed out towards the Fremont Bridge and had a couple of minutes of quiet contemplation before continuing on my wanderings.

Wish me luck. It’s going to be a big weekend.
