I’ve seen a lot of sunsets over the years, but this one a few days ago has to rate right up there with the best of them.
Echo Point, in the Blue Mountains two hours west of Sydney, is well known as a viewpoint for the famous Three Sisters rock formations that climb out of the forest canopy below. Heading down there at the end of the day, however, gave an even more majestic sight looking the other way. Towering cliffs, misty valleys and a blaze of gold lighting up the darkening sky.
We stood there for several minutes as the sun fell through the clouds and slowly dipped below the mountains, barely exchanging a word. None were needed.
