The Friday Photo #121 – Minaret in Mostar

Minaret in Mostar

The town of Mostar in southern Bosnia is full of contrasts.  A stunning river flows through the town centre, alongside ruined buildings covered in bullet holes.  Tourists shop for souvenirs and sip their coffees mere metres from a former city park transformed into a heart-breaking cemetery.  Minarets climb above the shorter buildings everywhere you turn, while a huge cross dominates a hill overlooking the town.

Mostar is a complicated, beautiful place, and it’s hard not to fall in love with it.

  • I don’t really like the color green that much. But your photo is just lovely. And I agree that it’s hard not to fall in love with it.
