Shopping, lions and cruises

IMG_1206 Woke up at the crack of noon … I wish.  More like 8 o’clock but still, not bad for me.  Bec & I both had stuff to buy – in my case, a new pair of sunglasses to replace the pair that were broken before we got through immigration (*sigh*) and a power adapter to charge the laptop so that you could enjoy the musings of a deranged mind that makes up this blog.

We found the stuff we needed without too much pain and suffering, then went hunting for things that didn’t exist in various parts of Singapore (ticket booths, mostly).  We did stumble across a large Mer-lion statue though (as opposed to the small or medium size ones), which is a famous Singapore landmark.  I’m sure it has great significance.  To somebody.  Must look that up sometime.

Anyway, lunch was at Lau Pa Sat Festival Market, and consisted of a thoroughly forgettable Indian meal.  Made our way back to town (the Singapore metro is fantastic, by the way – cheap, efficient and ridiculously clean like the rest of the country), booked the harbour cruise that we had been trying to find earlier (and no, I don’t know why we didn’t just go to the tourist office or pick up the phone in the first place), then enjoyed the pool again (yes, just because we could).

No dodgy perves with snorkel and mask this time around, unlike the day before.  What a great loss.  The harbour dinner cruise was enjoyable… good views, decent food and cocktails, pickup and dropoff from close to our hostel – can’t complain at all.  The boat was cool – a modern version of a Chinese junk, apparently.  And now, bed time again in preparation for an early pickup for the zoo tour tomorrow.  Night night…
