I’m off!
Well I’m sitting here typing this somewhere above the Tasman Sea, enjoying the wonderful service and just overall special experience that only comes with a Jetstar flight out of Chch at 6.15am. Combine that with about 2 hours of broken sleep (yeah sorry SJ, your couch really aint that comfortable…) and you’ve got the perfect start to any trip really. Still, hard to complain when a quick glance into the future only shows months and months of fun in the sun ahead. Five months of travel and not working, you say? Oh go on then…
The last few weeks are a bit of a blur (maybe that’s coz the rancid airport coffee hasn’t kicked in yet…my god that shit is terrible … how hard is it to make coffee that doesn’t taste like toilet water … anyway …). Seems that all I’ve been doing of late is eating, packing, drinking, packing, saying goodbye and packing. Did I mention packing? Sure was fun. Still, all done now, and with a helping hand from a friendly contact at Jetstar, me and my excess baggage are now Melbourne bound. And with a special guest appearance from Jo and Erol to see me off (not sure who was the winner of the ‘glassy-eyed stare’ competition tho), even the wait at the airport wasn’t as bad as usual…
So anyway, looking forward to seeing Soozles, Dean and Jake in a couple of hours, then sorting out a few bits & pieces (hopefully including getting my mobile working overseas – always a fun filled experience), and jumping on a plane to Singapore with Bec on Saturday. Our accommodation over there fell through a few days ago and with some trade show filling every hotel room in the country it was starting to look like we might be sleeping on a park bench for a few days – though we’d probably get fined for making the place look untidy if we even tried it. But never fear, a few well-placed emails found us a room at the Y (thanks Bec!). So it’s all go for Singapore Slings in the sunshine … photos and random waffle to come!
Right, time to remind myself why I can’t sleep on planes…
If you enjoyed this post please share it with your friends - it only takes a second but it makes a huge difference to me!

Is “illy” that bad?
Hey Dave, did not make it to the airport to see you off (not that i ever was) enjoy and take care.
Well done for the first post while traveling..
Mike
Illy is great … but they don’t open til 6am, so I was forced to drink that slop that Marriots dish up instead.
