The Friday Photo #182 – What’s with the animal sculptures?

October 4, 2013 | The Friday Photo, Travel, USA
Pig sculpture

You know that time, all of a couple of months ago, when I stopped off in a small town in Oregon and the most impressive thing was the big moose statue in the main street? Or, perhaps, the big elk statue… there’s a bit of debate in the comments.

Regardless of its species, to be honest I expected that to be the most attractive sculpted metal animal that I saw on this trip – mostly because, well, I didn’t really imagine that I’d see any others. As I pulled up outside the visitor centre in Arizona’s Red Rock state park, however, I realised just how wrong I could be. I mean, they don’t have antlers or anything… but even so, that’s one damn cute little pig family.
